How do I find the right power class for my electrolyzer?

We offer electrolysers in the power classes 1 kW, 2 kW and 10 kW. Higher or customised power classes are available on request. The assemblies connected to the electrolyser are designed for the respective power class or can also be configured on request.

Electrolyzer as storage for a photovoltaic system

If the electrolyzer is to be used in conjunction with an H2 tank and a fuel cell as a storage solution for a photovoltaic system, the power class of the electrolyzer must be greater than the peak power of the PV system.

Example: PV system with 6.4 kWp → electrolyzer power class 10 kW

Using an electrolyzer to refuel a hydrogen vehicle

If the electrolyzer is to be used in conjunction with an H2 compressor unit and an H2 filling station, the required power class can be calculated using the following Excel tool:

The calculation is based on the assumption that the electrolyzer is in operation 24 hours a day. Accordingly, a PV system with storage is necessary, or the electrolyzer must be temporarily supplied with mains power.
